The Chapel's structure and design is conceptually based on the "Ohel Mo'ed", the "Tent of Meeting", the Tabernacle (portable sanctuary) of the Wilderness". The architectural structure and every design element are to reflect the symbolic meaning and spiritual connection between G-d, the community, and the individual. The structure of the Tabernacle as described in Exodus, Chapters 25-31 and 35-40 was a tent and part wooden enclosure (the Ark). It was comprised of curtains forming a roof and all sides. The curtains were supported by wood poles. The use of wool, wood, gold, bronze, copper, colors: turquoise, purple, scarlet, are just a few elements to be incorporated into the design.
I intend the space to be one of simplicity, yet, dramatic and complex with meaning. The Chapel will invoke a sense of sacred past that continues with its richness to this day and from generation to generation.
